Composite bonding · Wandsworth Common, SW12
Composite bonding is often the quiet hero of cosmetic dentistry. A tooth-coloured composite is sculpted on to the tooth to repair a chip, close a small gap or even out an edge, usually in one visit and without drilling.

What bonding can do
Chipped corners and edges are rebuilt so the tooth looks whole again.
Gaps between front teeth can often be closed by adding composite to the sides of the teeth.
Uneven or worn edges are reshaped so your smile has a smooth, balanced line.
Small or misshapen teeth can be built up to match their neighbours.
We start with a smile consultation, photographs and a scan, and agree the shape and shade with you. For larger cases a trial smile lets you see the result in your own mouth first.
On the day, the tooth surface is cleaned and lightly prepared, then composite is added in thin layers, each set with a curing light. It is shaped to your bite and polished to a natural shine. Most people need no anaesthetic.
Bonding works best on healthy, well aligned teeth. If teeth are crowded, a short course of Invisalign® treatment first often means less composite is needed. If you would like teeth lighter, whitening comes first so the bonding can be matched.

These are guide fees per tooth. Small repairs are priced after an assessment, and you will have exact costs in writing before any treatment begins.
Bellevue Dental is a private practice and we welcome patients with private dental insurance. Treatment plans from £1,000 can be spread with finance through our partner Tabeo, subject to status. Check your eligibility with Tabeo. The full list of fees is on our fees page.
Composite bonding is a tooth-coloured material sculpted on to the surface of a tooth and set hard with a light. It is used to repair chips, close small gaps, even out uneven edges and change the shape of teeth, usually without drilling healthy tooth.
A composite bonded veneer covering the front of a tooth is from £495 per tooth. Smaller repairs, such as a single chipped edge, are priced after an assessment. A smile consultation is free, and you will have exact costs in writing before treatment.
Usually no tooth needs to be removed. The surface is lightly prepared so the composite can bond to it, which means bonding can often be adjusted, repaired or replaced later.
Bonding lasts for years with good cleaning, regular hygiene visits and a night guard if you grind your teeth. It can pick up stains and wear over time, and can be repolished, repaired or refreshed when it does.
Usually yes. Composite does not change colour with whitening, so we whiten first and then match the bonding to your new shade.
Bonding is gentler and quicker, and is often the right first choice. Porcelain veneers resist staining better and can make larger changes. We will show you both options and explain which suits your teeth.
